ASOS sure knows how to take my money. They are so good at it and I can’t even complain about it if I wanted to. All they have to do is bring out a Dress in a Scuba material, feminine, floaty and in a fabulous hue and I’m sold. I do enjoy scrolling and browsing through their gigantic database of clothes when I come across a scuba dress like this one, I don’t even blink let alone think for too long. i just hope and pray they will have my size. I have come to love and develop an obsession with all things made with the Scuba material. If you are a regular reader [ welcome back and hello to any newbies ] you probably seen me wear a scuba outfit here, here and here. It all started with this one here. I just love the structure and how the fabric holds its shape, holds volume and moves so well.
This One Shoulder Foam Scuba Dip Back Midi Skater Dress** as its official known by ASOS was released earlier this year as part of their wedding guest collection. I fell in love with it immediately and knew it would be perfect for that Paris shoot I had planned in my head for months. I got to bring this shoot to reality back in February when I took a day trip to Paris. Although my dress and the location were perfect, the weather was not so kind to us. It was a bit gloomy when we arrived at the Eiffel Tower where we planned to do the shoot. As soon as we settled in and found a not so crowded spot, I was just about to struck my first pose, photographer ready to release the shutter button and down came the
rain blizzard ok rain but it totally felt like a blizzard. It was cold, breezy and I was left completely soaked.
We ran to a cafe in a museum nearby the tower for cover and some warmth and maybe make an effort to dry the dress in the bathroom with the hand dryer. I tried not cry [ I was close but didn’t want to ruin my makeup also ] simply because my plan and the shoot were going to tatters and I had no contingency plan as I was in Paris for just a few hours but then a miracle happened, my dress began to dry up and was completely dry without using any drying aid in about 10mins. Another great reason to love the scuba fabric even more.
I was all dried up and coffee-d up after 30 mins and ready to attempt to shoot again as the rain had just stopped, so we headed outside and made some magic happen and this is the outcome.
I adore the colour of this dress. Blush Pink or any type of pink hue in general is so on trend for this Spring season. The pleated details on the dress makes me swoon too. I find one shoulder dresses often not very flattering on me but the cut and folded detail sits nicely on the shoulder.
I hadn’t planned for the colours of my accessories and outerwear to match so well. I found the studded bow clutch/purse at TK Maxx . I knew there and then, it will compliment my Lucy Choi studded heels. They are basically of the same colour palette [ black, beige with gold studs ] and the same design and concept [bow ] but from two different brands. I love great finds such as these. Also, the snood scarf and my beige mac was not part of the outfit but it got too cold at some point, I didn’t care much about whether it was a good look or not but again, I liked the combo and how it makes the blush pink dress stand out more.
