The Ordinary 100% Plant-Derived Squalane Facial Oil Review – Oily Skin

I have only been using this oil a little over two months and it has quickly become a favourite and staple after my first use. I never thought I’d able to include a facial oil in my morning skincare routine but this oil has made it possible. Here are the reasons why I love it so much and recommend you get on board too regardless of your skin type.

What The Ordinary says about this product:

This is a lightweight plant-derived solution to support healthy hydration. Squalane is a saturated and stable hydrocarbon that is found naturally in the skin. It has very high emollience, is an exception hydrator and can prevent ongoing loss of hydration that impairs dermal suppleness. Squalene is non-comedogenic and is suitable for use all skin types. It can also be applied to hair to increase heat protection, add shine and reduce breakage potential.

My findings:

I started off by using 1-2 drops after I’ve applied my water based serums both morning and night. I use the dapping motion to ensure it absorbs into the skin. I prefer this method better to smoothing over face as this results in pilling [ when products sits on the skins surface ]. This really skins into the skin so quickly leaving it plump and bouncy and hydrated. I then proceed to apply my day moisturiser and carry on with the rest of my routine. I sometimes use it as my last step in my evening routine, using 2-3 drops. Using this everyday made a massive difference in terms of hydration and helped balanced my sebum production. It also cleared up any dry patches and flakes. It didn’t leave skin oily or made it more oilier which had always been my concern. Because its lightweight, it just disappears into the skin, a little goes a long way too. It’s similar to dry oil but feels more hydrating.

I use it on my body and hair sometimes but I think my face loves it more. This is the type of facial oil that everyone needs in their regime. It costs just £5.50 for 30ml of product. I urge you to give this a try and you’ll love the results just as much as I and other have. It doesn’t promise much compared with other facial oils but this one will definitely keep your skin hydrated. That is for sure!  Check out the reviews on their website for yourself.

Have you tried this oil before? What were your thoughts?
