Making A Statement with ASOS WHITE Grey Sweater Balloon Sleeves Dress

Here’s my statement: Hello, my name is YaaLia and I’m obsessed with statement sleeves. Evidence here, here and here. There’s more but I will leave it at those for now. I may be hooked however  I’m not looking for therapy or cure [ cue Amy Winehouse’s Rehab song ] anytime soon. I mean, have you seen the Spring/Summer 2017 collection  popping up on the fashion radar lately? The stores are filling up their clothes racks with Balloon sleeves shirts, Bell sleeves blouses,  Exaggerated shapes, Frills and Ruffles, Structures and of course, turning up the Volume on anything wearable. I’m literally spoilt for choice here and I don’t want a  FOMO [ Fear Of Missing Out ] situation and get left behind from boarding the fashion train. ASOS seemed to have gotten the memo and created a limited edition collection based on this trend which  I wrote a post about last week featuring my top picks. This Grey Sweater Dress with Balloon Sleeves was the first item I wanted from the collection but was sold out in my size. I took my own advise from Monday’s post and found one in my size last week.

This dress is now my favourite thing in my wardrobe right now. It’s warm [ fleece lining ], comfy and cosy and so easy to wear dressed up or down. I can see me running errands and going for coffee dates in this everyday.

Also, how pretty is this backdrop? I’ve been looking for a wall art or coloured wall in my neighbourhood since I moved there 2 years ago. I’ve google-d and asked around but nada. And guess where I found this? The wall next door which is right up my alley [ pun intended ]. My neighbour’s back garden to be precise. I guess I had been asking the wrong neighbour all this while. Tut, tut.

So now that I’m friends with the good ol’ neighbour, this means I’ll be heading over for tea and photo-shoots. Works for me!

Do excuse my puffy face and eyes. No, I wasn’t trying to match them to my ” puffy” sleeves [ haha..oh I’m so funny ]   I had just retuned from a graveyard shift and was overdue an afternoon nap but blogging duties took priority as the weather had just brighten up.

*** yaaawwwwnnnn***

I’m heading to bed now but do let me know what you think of the next season’s statement sleeves trend. YAY or NAY? You know my answer. I want to know yours.

I’ve always love balloon sleeves and some time ago I fell in love with the sweat dresses. It’s so cozy and universal!
I want buy this dress in Nude colour, but a little bit confusing about size.
Because I heard that the line White is bigger that just Asos. Is it true?
Did you buy your usual size?

Hi Natalie, I think I’ve seen the nude one of this and love it too. I got my usual size in UK 8. The top half is normal but its quite roomy around the hip area so something to keep in mind if you’re of a small frame, I will then recommend a smaller size. Hope this helps xx

Your dress made me think about Ann of Green Gables and her desire to have a dress with puffed sleeves: “Puffed sleeves are so fashionable now. It would give me such a thrill, Marilla, just to wear a dress with puffed sleeves”.

You look great in it. I really love it. And the shoes! I have a weak spot for Adidas trainers. 🙂
